Research and Scholarship

The program of research at the Institute focuses on re-imagination of the humanities in an Africa-centered spirit. At the center of the research of the Institute is the understanding that a balance of stories is an essential aspect of an empowering vision of a better world.

Fellowships

Creative energy needs space, time, commitment and freedom. Emengini Institute enables all these virtues of the creative mind to thrive by bringing together scholars working on issues that intersect with the Institutes vision for a better world. Fellows spend time at the Institute to work on their own research projects, while engaging with other fellows at the Institute.

Creativity, Policy Dialogue & Community

Cities, the founder of the Institute, Ifeanyi Menkiti, emphasized, thrive not merely because of the economy, but due to the important dimension of culture and creativity. Culture enables cities to thrive because it is an imaginative space of the mind. Creativity is a crucial aspect of culture because it is through creative expression that the mind is able to apprehend what is as yet unknown.
